Endurance Sports Athletes: risks, diagnosis and injury prevention

Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Specialist Care in collaboration with Fortius Clinic hosted a GP event on how to diagnose and manage complications and injuries in endurance sports athletes, both at the amateur and pro level.

The evening included presentations from both Fortius Clinic and RB&HH Specialist Care consultants covering musculoskeletal, respiratory and cardiac topics including bone health in endurance sports, respiratory problems in athletes and cardiac risk in athletes. 

 

Harefield Hospital Cardiology Study Day

Venue: Harefield Hospital (Concert Hall), Hill End Road, Harefield, UB9 6JH

Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Specialist Care, in collaboration with Hillingdon Masterclass, hosted a Cardiology Study Day covering the key clinical topics facing busy frontline primary care practitioners.

Attendees learned exactly what happens during Primary PCI, how to assess ECGs, manage AF, heart failure, syncope and cardiomyopathies. Speakers also discussed the management of angina, cholesterol and familial hypercholesterolemia, as well as community management of angina and the valve patient.

The talks included case studies and were followed by a panel question and answer session. Attendees received a certificate of attendance.

 

Aorta Masterclass 2018

Venue: Fleming Building, Imperial College London, South Kensington campus

In view of the increasing case-load of specific aortic diseases and the need to manage them optimally, this event offered a platform for everyone interested in this emerging field. 

In particular, the event aimed to attract senior trainees and young consultants in vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, radiology and cardiac surgery. The group discussed new developments in the genetics, epidemiology, diagnosis and management of diseases of the aorta with experts in the field.
